Celebrating World Book Night

It’s World Book Night on Saturday 5 March, and St John’s Church, Linlithgow has a juicy wee event planned to celebrate. It’s the brainchild of David Todd, community outreach pastor, who is a registered World Book Night book giver-away, and I’ll be taking part. David will be giving away his WBN copies of Stuart: A Life Backwards by Alexander Masters. David worked for the Grassmarket Mission for some time and says that Stuart: A Life Backwards is the best book he’s ever read on homelessness. When someone with that experience makes such a statement, you sit up and take notice, I tell you. He’ll be talking about the book and telling some stories from his time at the grassmarket. I’ll be reading poetry — mine and others’ — on the theme of home and there’ll be an opportunity for book swapping. Refreshments will also be served.

There’s a Facebook event here.
