Gearing up for LBF 2012
November is almost upon us already, which means that — aside from all the ghoulish goodies in the supermarkets, the building of bonfires and the buying of fireworks — Linlithgow Book Festival is just around the corner.
This year’s LBF runs from Friday, 2 November to Sunday, 4 November. As in previous years, I’m running a poetry workshop on the Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM and organising the open mike event on the Saturday evening. Details are on the website here.
I’m also really excited to be bringing Gutter magazine to LBF for one of their superb — if I may be permitted to say that — A Night in the Gutter events. I’ll be reading at that, along with Rodge Glass, Elizabeth Reeder and Brian McCabe. The reading starts at 7:30 PM and will segue fairly smoothly into the open mike at 9 PM.
Aside from that, we have readings from the likes of Iain M Banks, Alistair Darling and the makar Liz Lochhead herself, who will be presenting the prizes in this year’s LBF young writers competition. And, on the Sunday, you can take tea with Alexander McCall Smith if you’re lucky enough already to have bought a ticket, as that event is already sold out!
