Goosebumps: Four Poets in Search of a Wild Goose
Next week is Book Week Scotland, our first ever official national celebration of books and reading. I’m very pleased to be joining Edinburgh-based poets Rob A Mackenzie and Elspeth Murray and visiting Irish poet Pádraig Ó Tuama for a reading on the Thursday that week (29 November).
I first met Pádraig when he led a retreat in Glasgow last year for the Wild Goose Resource Group in which he drew on midrash, lectio divina, psychoanalytic writings and narrative theology to explore several stories from the Old Testament in a powerful, open fashion. It opened up many things for me, so I’m thoroughly looking forward to seeing him again and hearing his poetry, of which I only had a tiny wee taste last year.
He is over again with the WGRG, so we’ve organised this reading. He has a brand-new book out from Canterbury Press, Readings from the Book of Exile, and I’m sure he’ll have copies with him to sell.
